About Never2Early The Never2Early Campaign was initiated to help families with young children understand that risk factors for heart disease can start developing early in life. The primary focus of the campaign is on a heart-healthy diet and lifestyle starting at age two. Information and facts used in this campaign come from statistics, research and recommendations made by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), its National Cholesterol Education Program as well as the American Heart Association. NIH confirms that heart disease is the number one killer of American men and women.
This government organization offers compelling evidence that high cholesterol levels during childhood can contribute to heart disease later in life. Millions of children already have elevated cholesterol levels. That is why it’s important to know that eating a heart-healthy diet can significantly reduce the chance of developing unhealthy levels of cholesterol. The Campaign also notes that it is never too late to start a heart-healthy lifestyle as everyday can be seen as a new beginning. As always, parents should check with their child’s health care professional when making changes in their child’s diet.
Sponsored by Unilever Foods as part of Unilever’s worldwide initiative on health and vitality, the campaign’s mission is to raise awareness about the importance of children eating a heart-healthy diet starting at age two. This is being done as part of Unilever’s worldwide “Vitality Mission.” Unilever's deep understanding of consumers' nutrition and health needs was key in the decision to develop the Never2Early campaign. As a springboard for Unilever Foods to increase recognition among families that diet does matter, the campaign uses one important dietary recommendation for a heart-healthy diet - to reduce the amount of saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol in the diet by selecting soft margarine spreads (with no cholesterol, no trans fat and two grams of saturated fat or less) in place of butter. Information contained in the Never2Early campaign and on this site is designed as an educational resource. It is not intended to provide medical advice on personal health matters nor to guide treatment -- which is only appropriately done by a qualified health professional. |
